چکیده
In recent years, the “science of science” has combined computational methods with novel data sources to understand dynamics research communities. Many questions investigated by science are also relevant academic philosophy. To what extent can discipline be divided into subfields different and topics? How prestige credit distributed across discipline? And how do these factors interact other factors, such as gender, shape job market outcomes? Using for anglophone philosophy, this paper finds, first, evidence that is consistent analytic-continental divide but other, more complex ways organizing philosophy distinct intellectual traditions; second, a clear hierarchy, dividing Ph.D. programs two categories; and, third, prestige, country have notable effects on outcomes Ph.Ds.

Bayesian Networks in Philosophy
There is a long philosophical tradition of addressing questions in philosophy of science and epistemology by means of the tools of Bayesian probability theory (see Earman (1992) and Howson and Urbach (1993)). In the late '70s, an axiomatic approach to conditional independence was developed within a Bayesian framework. This approach in conjunction with developments in graph theory are the two pi...

History and Philosophy of Neural Networks
This chapter conceives the history of neural networks emerging from two millennia of attempts to rationalise and formalise the operation of mind. It begins with a brief review of early classical conceptions of the soul, seating the mind in the heart; then discusses the subsequent Cartesian split of mind and body, before moving to analyse in more depth the twentieth century hegemony identifying ...
